Information architecture workshop

PixelForge has completed work on “Information architecture workshop”. The focus was on navigation structure, page hierarchy and section labels. The change grew from specific user and editorial needs. The most common issues were confusing menus, overlapping sections and hard-to-find content. Before implementation we reviewed content, the existing process and measurable goals. We specifically covered user tasks, an inventory of existing pages and a proposed new map. The new approach simplifies day-to-day work and reduces room for error.
In practice it delivers simpler paths, fewer clicks to key information and clearer labels. We track results after publish and use them for the next improvement cycle. If part of the process slows the team down, we adjust it before the next project. This update is the result of interdisciplinary work that connected content, design, development and analytics. Before release we verified key user flows, mobile presentation and the editorial process. We also documented decisions, owners and acceptance criteria so knowledge transfers more easily inside the team and to the client. We recommend rolling the change out gradually: first on one content type, then across the rest of the archive after a short evaluation.
In the coming period we will follow feedback and usage data so small refinements stay grounded in real needs. The workshop ends with an agreed sitemap and a list of pages to delete, merge or still create. Each main section gets one purpose sentence, which later makes titles and nav labels easier to write. We test the map against three typical user tasks before design goes into detail. Workshop output is stored with the project so decisions do not get lost between sprints. When the map is unclear, we return to user tasks instead of adding more sections. We share the agreed architecture with design and development before the first screens are built.
