Project brief before design

A concise PixelForge Studio update about a new process, delivery, and results for client teams.

PixelForge has completed work on “Project brief before design”. The goal was to turn a loose set of wishes into a shared document that guides design, development and editorial work from day one. The change grew from specific user and editorial needs. We often entered the visual phase without agreed priorities, so later changes cost more time than necessary. Before implementation we reviewed content, the existing process and measurable goals. For every project we now ask who the primary audience is, what the page’s main task is, what must appear in the first viewport, and how success will be measured after launch. The new approach simplifies day-to-day work and reduces room for error.

The brief includes short sections for messages, navigation, required modules, brand constraints and a checklist of content that must be ready before design starts. We track results after publish and use them for the next improvement cycle. If a section of the brief proves unclear or too long, we refine the template before the next project. This update is the result of interdisciplinary work that connected content, design, development and analytics. Before release we verified key user flows, mobile presentation and the editorial process. In practice the workshop is no longer an inspiration meeting but a decision session. Every decision enters the brief with an owner, a deadline and an acceptance criterion.

We recommend keeping briefs short: one or two pages are enough when priorities are clear. Five confirmed requirements beat twenty open ideas without order. In the coming period we will follow feedback and usage data so small refinements stay grounded in real needs. We want the brief to become the default start of every PixelForge project. The brief also includes a short risk list: open questions, third-party dependencies and content that is not yet design-ready. At the end of each project we compare the brief with the delivered solution to see where the document helped and where it should be simplified.
