Planning seasonal content

A content calendar helps teams prepare and review publications on time.

Seasonal content planning helps the team publish on time instead of rushing on the last day. Start from a calendar of events, seasons and campaigns. For each topic define an owner, preparation deadline, required media and languages. Without that, the season becomes a wish list. Prepare templates for recurring formats: announcements, event recaps and post-season reminders.

Update older seasonal articles instead of rewriting everything every year. Often a new image, date and short addendum are enough. Align the seasonal plan with team capacity. Fewer complete publishes beat a pile of unfinished drafts. Make sure seasonal messages do not bury evergreen content users need all year.

After the season, note what worked: which posts helped, what slipped and what to drop next year. That short retrospective saves time in the next planning round and keeps editorial knowledge in the team. Include time for visuals and translations in the plan, not only writing. Connect seasonal posts to evergreen content so users have a next step after the campaign. Reserve a few buffer days for late changes before the season starts.
